I am the education reporter for the Winston-Salem Journal. I cover K-12 education in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County and higher education in the area, which includes Wake Forest University and Winston-Salem State University.

Previously, I worked for the Daily Progress in Charlottesville, Virginia. I reported on K-12 education in the Charlottesville area, as well as state and federal politics from May 2015 to early January 2018.

I am an alumnus of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, with Bachelor of Science degrees in journalism and nonprofit public relations.

Before graduation, I worked as the enterprise editor at The Appalachian, Appalachian State’s student newspaper, where I managed and created long-form, investigative journalism projects.

I have also interned for the Student Press Law Center, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that offers legal assistance to high school and college journalists in the nation. As a reporting intern, I wrote articles about incidents where student journalists have encountered and overcome obstacles to free press, as well as other First Amendment issues that students face.

I am also the former editor-in-chief at The Appalachian and media relations intern at Wine to Water, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that works to ending the global water crisis.
